Emma has a particular interest in working with children whose behavioural or emotional challenges have unclear, complex, or multiple possible causes. She specialises in comprehensive assessment and intervention where differential diagnosis is needed — especially for children who have experienced trauma or neglect and may be presenting with anxiety, hyperactivity, oppositional behaviour, or obsessive concerns.
She also welcomes referrals for children in Out of Home Care where it may be unclear whether the child’s difficulties are related to developmental or behavioural conditions (such as ADHD, ODD, or Autism Spectrum Disorder), trauma, or a combination of both.
Emma completed a Graduate Certificate in Developmental Trauma through the Australian Childhood Foundation in 2016, further strengthening her expertise in this area.
Emma is a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor and supports psychologists in training at all stages, including those completing higher degrees or seeking Clinical endorsement. She also enjoys contributing to the next generation of practitioners through casual lecturing to Masters and PhD students at the University of Newcastle.
